Avionics Settings and DB Updates

Today I performed several updates to the G3X system, including the GTN 750. Using the Vans V-speeds doc, I added the aircraft V-speeds. This sets various indicators on the airspeed strip. I also added parameters for the engine gauges setting green/yellow/red ranges for all the sensors, and configuring various system alerts. I added the Vans autopilot settings, although the autopilot will remain deactivated for the initial test flights.

I also upgraded the databases across the PFD, MFD and GTN750. This was a comedy of errors as I originally selected what appeared to be the right combination of subscriptions from Garmin. However I couldn’t get the GTN 750 to update it’s databases, and I guessed I had some kind of incompatibility on the Garmin subscriptions. I switched to the One Pac product, and tried the update again. Still an issue. It wasn’t until I looked closely that I realized I had a typo in the GTN serial number, and that was causing the issue. I needed help from Garmin support to switch the serial number on the back-end, and in the process the support agent refunded my original purchase. Later I got an email from another support agent suggesting I switch back to my original purchase because it’s a better deal – more capability with a lower cost. At this point I’m just going to stick with what I have, and I’ll plan to change in the future.

After getting all the config info entered, and the databases updated, I exported config files to an SD Card, and saved them on my laptop.
